Godwin’s Law in the WSJ Letters to the Editor
Tom Perkins of Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers fame, who has provided financing for many tech startups, has apparently never heard of Godwin’s Law. In a letter appearing in the Wall Street Journal he attempts to draw parallels between Nazi Germany’s treatment of Jews and “hatred” of the very wealthy 1% by progressives.
Writing from the epicenter of progressive thought, San Francisco, I would call attention to the parallels of fascist Nazi Germany to its war on its “one percent,” namely its Jews, to the progressive war on the American one percent, namely the “rich.”
The comments in response range from ridicule to agreement which is no real surprise. Somehow, though, I think it just shows that Mr. Perkins has absolutely no understanding of the long history of anti-Semitism in Europe.
