The ‘conference’ about the holocaust ended yesterday. FOX has a few quotes up from some of the ‘participents’, or as Ahmadinejad calls them, ‘researchers’.
David Duke:
“The Zionists have used the Holocaust as a weapon to deny the rights of the Palestinians and cover up the crimes of Israel,”
“This conference has an incredible impact on Holocaust studies all over the world.”
Ali Akbar Mohtashamipour:
“All the studies and research carried out so far have proven that there is no reason to believe that the Holocaust ever occurred and that it is only a tale.”
Nabil Soleiman, adviser to the Syrian ministry of religious affairs
“If the Holocaust ever occurred, it was a conspiracy against the Arab-Islamic world as today the Middle East is still paying the consequences.”
Frederick Toben (Australia):
“The number of victims at the Auschwitz concentration camp could be about 2,007. The railroad to the camp did not have enough capacity to transfer large numbers of Jews.”
Obviously it doesn’t matter whether one is ‘liberal’, ‘centrist’ or ‘conservative’: everyone condemns this conference.
Some are, as it seems, making fun of it or consider it to be so idiotic that it’s harmless. I understand this view, but it is important to keep one thing in mind as the Haaretz points out (h/t Jules): there is a danger to this. For instance, it will feed anti-Semitism.
Another danger is one that has not – as far as I know – been mentioned somewhere else: the danger of idoctrination. Millons of children and adults are influenced by this conference. If Ahmadinejad is allowed to spread his ‘message’ (that the holocaust is a ‘myth’) throughout the Mideast / Muslim countries in general, we will have millions (perhaps even hundreds of millions) of individuals who truly believe that the West (the Jews actually) made up the holocaust. That we / they faked everything, just to provide the Jews with a homeland in ‘Muslim territory’. What do you think the longterm result of that will be?
