If you can’t go with Kipling, you might try this Blake knock-off….
William Blakess “Tiger, Tiger’ is about a mighty force gone bad. For some reason that made me think of the current state of the U.S. dollar…
William Blake On The Fall Of The U.S. Dollar
Dollar, dollar, falling fast,
How long can this downturn last?
Can we just this slide dismiss,
While the world our dollars diss?
Traders of our currency,
These days don’t like what they see;
They look at our thirst to borrow,
Think it bodes much future sorrow.
If the cause of dollar woes,
A huge debt that grows and grows,
Should the markets send askew,
What might the Fed have to do?
Come a dollar panic scare,
Though it’s an election year,
The Fed will act, it can’t abide,
Here there is no room to hide.
To quell fear they must raise the rates,
Nothing else such fear abates;
What a costly ministration
For the Bush Administration!
Dollar, dollar, falling fast
How long can this downturn last
Can we just this slide dismiss
While the world our dollars diss?
