We haven’t ushered new members into our exclusive club in a while, but now is the time. Here is a group that is being admitted to TMV’s elite Get a Life Club, a club that only admits people showing that they have too much time on their hands, or are fixated on creating crises where they aren’t any, often in a cravenly partisan or ideological manner. And this group we’re bringing into the club deserves to be given special chairs (they can choose the ones from IKEA or Walmart):
Do you hear that faint sound? It’s the grumbling of conservative pundits who are now churning out a theory that Hillary Clinton is lying about her concussion to avoid having to testify about Benghazi. Clinton had a concussion recently, her team said Saturday.
Back to Concussiongate: the State Department released a statement saying that “while suffering from a stomach virus, Secretary Clinton became dehydrated and fainted, sustaining a concussion,.”…Former United Nations Ambassador and Fox News commentator John Bolton insinuated Monday night on Fox News’s On the Record with Greta Van Susteren that Clinton’s concussion was dubious, because he knows how to play sick.
And so they whip up paranoia with Fox News viewers, debut a theme that will be continued by some conservative talk show hosts and will be regurgitated up by some conservative bloggers (but most assuredly not all).
To the conservative writers — and John Bolton and his mustache — who are suggesting Hillary Clinton is faking it (as if she didn’t have underlines who could testify in her behalf) welcome to TMV’s Get a Life Club, an honor you have truly earned.
And we’re certain you will continue to justify your membership in this club.
UPDATE: THIS JUST IN from Abad-Santos:
Update 4:21 p.m. Clinton’s team is responding to the attacks that the Secretary of State faked her concussion to get out of the hearing. “She’s been on the phone and in e-mail contact with senior staff. She’s been working on other issues – Syria, the DPRK [North Korea] today. These are people that don’t know what they are talking about,” spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters.
Indeed: the truths in the Declaration of Independence aren’t the only things to be self evident…
