Maher: ‘This is the Week Mitt Romney Lost the Election’ (Guest Voice)

Maher: ‘This is the week Mitt Romney lost the election’ (via Raw Story )

Because of his reaction to the crisis in the Middle East, Bill Maher said Friday, “I think this is the week Mitt Romney lost the election.” Romney’s much-derided remarks falsely criticizing the Obama administration made the GOP presidential candidate look “small,” Maher said, in much the…

There is still time for Romney to redeem himself. Still lots of undecided voters. Still lots of carte blanche hate by Republicans towards Obama. Obama can’t take for granted that Romney is out.

Such thinking is what did the first Bush in during his re-election. He and his team just didn’t think he could lose against a backwards governor from Arkansas. The Bush I team underestimated Clinton, the country and overestimated themselves.

  • Feehery’s comments can’t be dismissed out of hand. It is still unclear if the mob violence helps or hurts Obama. If the Romney campaign tweaks its message it could eaily rub Obama’s face in the mess. And being anti-Israel (perception or reality) could also hurt.

And yes, all hell is breaking loose in the Muslim world.

Maher isn’t the coolest cookie in the jar so anything he says has to be taken with that in mind. Romney’s flub could be a defining moment in a normal nation in a normal election – we are apparently far from that this time around. With all the money yet to be spent on advertising and super packs that have no problem with outright lying (and candidates that have no problems with the super packs doing that) I wouldn’t begin to predict how this will all end up. Our political system is so far out of kilter, I don’t recognize it any more. If it’s in its death throes, I don’t believe any good will can resurrect it.

My rabid right email this morning (I get one every day or so) is purportedly from a citizen in Israel stating he’s never seen such military buildup and is going to send his family home. Problem is he thinks the President should immediately fly to Israel and is being un-American if he doesn’t which proves he’s tilting toward the Muslims.

I saw Maher last night and agree with him but only about half way. Very bad blow, fatal not so sure.
BTW: I know it is a comedy show, but maybe he could have slipped in a little sympathy for the family of the four killed or a reference to their sacrifice.

Ohio, what an doofus that guy from the right emailing you is. Doesn’t he know it is campaign time (started 10 months ago).

That was his point. Obama should be flying to Israel instead of California. I’ve asked him to explain why he’s such a doofus, in more polite terms of course, and will be interested to hear his answer. The emails he sends would never lead you to believe he’s an intelligent successful businessman. I can only determine that he’s lived in the south too long.

Maher is a radical left commentator first and a comedian second that’s understood. Why any of the participants should have expressed sympathy I don’t know when they were not talking about the attack, they were talking about the election and Romney’s original statement’s impact on that election.
