Some gentle poetry from one of our favorite poets, the inimitable Michael Silverstein, aka Wall Street Poet (visit his great site and check his poetry out):
By Michael Silverstein
What does ‘fiscal conservative’ mean anymore
When constraints on big spending we simply ignore
Whether meds for the old or some dumb foreign war
Or tax breaks for the rich, sops for hurricane’s poor
Has the law of supply and demand got new meaning
Just demand others wealth for your own lifestyle preening
And suppliers will jump to abet this greed scheming
Never daring to give your good life a good weaning
When you’re living on credit you¹re living on hope
That with growing debt payments you¹ll manage to cope
And that good hearted lenders keep feeding you rope
So binge spending don’t turn to a slippery slope.
Feeling the slippage yet?
