Chuck Butcher wrote a great post about what truly matters in life. Is it all about ‘success,’ or is it about doing what one believes to be right, even if there are no immediate rewards?
It seems that America beats dictators in how many of its citizens it locks up. Not exactly something to be proud of.
Was Bob Woolmer killed or not? According to Jamaican authorities, he died due to natural causes. The only problem: they are not saying what killed him. As Rich points out, conspiracy theorists are going to have “a field day with this one.”
Libby Spencer describes John Edwards’ birthday party. Edwards said: “We need a President of the United States who actually cares what the rest of the world believes and thinks about the United States of America. We need a President who asks his country to be patriotic about something besides war.” That sounds about right to me and… isn’t patriotism a feeling one always has? Can one feel patriotic about war? Strange sentence.
Libby also notes that: “I was more impressed with his handling of the crowd than I was with the speech. He was really present and engaged with his supporters.” A good VP?
Andrew Sullivan received an interesting e-mail from a reader about Richard Rorty, about whom Andrew wrote a good post.
