Bush Presidential Library Dedicated

g-cvr-130424-bush-library-hmed-9a.photoblog600This morning ceremonies were held marking the dedication of the George W. Bush Presidential Library.

I know that Bush remains a lighting rod for controversy but it was nice to see that today everyone put politics aside to celebrate this country and the institution of the Presidency.

Five Presidents and First Ladies gathered together for the ceremonies, a historic moment that occurs rarely. Also present were the Johnson, Nixon and Ford daughters and Michael Reagan, which means we had 50 years of Presidential families gathered together.

I was in the extended crowd at the dedication of the Reagan library and though we couldn’t see much of anything due to there was still a feeling of history as so many current and former leaders gathered together.

Should have been called the G W Bush Lie Bury

  • Whenever I see a gathering of former presidents, regardless of how I feel about them, I reflect that no one understands that job except for the men standing there. It’s a very exclusive brotherhood – which one day will include a sisterhood.

I don’t like any of these ego-trip libraries. Much better to have a President’s Library and add on wings.

I wonder if they’ll include a video exhibit showing Bush at his ranch clearing brush, the only thing he does well… And they should have an AV exhibit showing the destruction he visited upon Iraq’s infrastructure, art treasures and innocent civilians, and a set of recordings that play all the imbecilic remarks he’s ever made. Oh yes, and a display of his C- average college report cards. He was the most calamitous utter fool who ever occupied the Oval Office. Do you suppose there’ll be a plaque that says that?

Loved seeing and hearing the living Presidents and their families together and at once.

I’m with the duck on this one.

That would be one hell of a hugh library, dd. I hope Buch included the daily briefing memo he received in August 2011 “bin laden determined to strike in US” next to the giant hunk of steel from the twin towers.

Y, that’s the idea: smaller spaces with computer terminals and less padding.
