Let Obama and Clinton begin the general election campaign against the GOP. See who can attract the most independents. Observe which of the two candidates are most persuasive in creating the largest voter consensus.
Elevate the protracted primary into a glorious national dialog about the “American Idea” and how we want to achieve it. Use this time to demonstrate to all citizens what is different about the values and methods of the two parties. Bring up the main controversies, and talk about the differences, and the areas for common ground. Try to get people to look deeper than their knee jerk allegiance to party and think about their own values: What is our responsibility to the least among us? To whom much is given, much is expected? How much liberty are we willing to sacrifice for security? What sacrifices are we willing to make to protect the environment?
Show the world the potential of open, candid, vital democracy.
