The Controversy Over Jim Webb’s Old Writings Rages In Virginia — A Controversy Raised By The George Allen Camp and Bull Moose notes that it is unadulterated hypocrisy:
The latest brouhaha centers over some lurid passages in novels that Jim Webb penned a while back. While the Moose has some differences over Webb’s policy views, he has long been a fan of Webb’s writings. He writes as a Marine who was there. His writing is vivid and an expression of someone who has fought and defended this great country. Webb is entitled to patriotic license.
In the past, other public figures and politicians, including Lynne Cheney and Newt Gingrich have also written novels with racy scenes. The books were quickly forgotten.
In contrast, Jim Webb has written at least one classic about war that will long be read and remembered. In another age, Webb would be celebrated for his literary talent rather than attacked for it.
Yes, it’s interesting how partisanship causes amnesia: forgetting how you raised a stink when liberals and Democrats raised a stink about passages in books from people on your side. Or forgetting how many times you said “stay the course” and suggested it was government policy. This amnesia doesn’t only inflict one party. It goes in stages. And right now it’s raging at an epidemic rate among bigwig GOPers. Bigtime.
But There’s Another Less-Charitable View Of Jim Webb that’s laid out by one of TMV’s favorite conservative sites, A Little More To The Right.

Three Reasons Given To Vote For The Democrats are outlined by the Lehigh Valley Express-Times in THIS POST from The All Spin Zone. The third one is the one we agree with the most. It boils down to the whole idea of the importance of DIVIDED GOVERNMENT because it’s increasingly clear that giving one party unfettered control of the government is (a) ineffective and (b) not healthy for the kind of democracy, Republic and even the kind of Republicanism this country had long thought was a “given.” (Of course, times do change and perhaps the bulk of Americans feel a new, one-party form of government is best as we move into the 21st-Century. But we doubt it).
A Movie Portrays Jesus As Black and Booker Rising says fasten your safety belts:
My response: watch as the hateration from some whites begins. However, one of my uncles sent me an email with the film’s link, calling the movie’s existence as “awesome!”. The film’s liberal politics aside, this depiction is certainly more realistic than the blonde, straight-haired, blue-eyed, pale-skinned Jesus Christ that has become the iconic image in many places (never mind that the Nordic phenotype is very rare in the Middle East – rarer than, oh say, blacks in the Middle East).
Read it all. (Perhaps the most controversial movie for some would be one showing Jesus as tolerating the Democrats).
