Armed janitors, teachers in wake of US shooting (via AFP)

A rural Ohio school district which has asked its janitors to carry handguns has become the latest to push for armed staff members in the wake of a horrific school shooting last month. The United States has been embroiled in a debate over gun control and the best way to protect children after an armed…

This is so insane. If it weren’t for the NRA preventing gun control all these years, there wouldn’t BE so many crazies having guns…DUH! Now, thanks to the NRA we have all sorts of weapons, with no background checks available to just about every nut case out there. The response from the NRA?..Arm everyone, because there are crazy, violent people out there that we have allowed to freely have guns, in fact FOUGHT for their right to have weapons, and now must protect ourselves from. Bobby Jindal wants the mental health records?? Once again, the NRA has successfully DIVERTED the… Read more »

I’ve been thinking about this problem, and have come to the conclusion that outlawing guns would not be nearly as effective as outlawing gun-nuts.

Maybe we could let all the harmless drug addicts out of jail , and keep the prison-industrial complex rolling along by incarcerating the dangerous gun addicts instead. Discuss.

All great ideas. We should also support that people bring weapons to sporting events…football and hockey would be the best. With all of that testosterone in the air…you need something to protection yourself. High school and college games, as well as professional. How else can a fan protect themselves from fist-swinging NBA players?

What could possibly go wrong?

Soccer, SL, that is the really big market, the dozens killed in the soccer riots could really explode and finally attract a bigger U.S. audience.

Several questions come to mind. What kind of background checks are going to be done on the janitors? What happens when a janitor accidently shoots a child? Who is liable? What happens if a janitor fails to act? Who decided two days of training is enough to handle a crisis situation? What happends if a janitor refuses to participate or cannot afford a gun?

All public employees should be issued a hand gun. That should vastly improve the environment at the DMV.

And yes, soccer matches would be a perfect place for everyone to be armed. Refs will need to be given full body armor. Players too, but they will be safe from the video game crazed mentally ill.

Great point Dorian!! But see those people were well trained, efficient and extremely vigil professionals. They couldn’t possibly provide the kind of safety a terrified, barely trained, ” not getting paid enough for this” janitor could!
