Is Dick Cheney Coming Around on Gay Marriage?

YouTube Preview Image

Maybe. Maybe not:

[I]t is…pretty clear that Cheney was talking about a “shot” at seeking marriage equality in their state, which everyone has, rather than a “shot” at marriage equality itself, which most people don’t have currently.

This much is clear:

Cheney is more progressive than Obama on marriage equality, because he does not — and has never in the past decade — said that he believes marriage should be limited to one man and one woman.  Obama has.  That is not a development…that has been each man’s stated position.

Where have you people been for the past 10 years?

Dick Cheney’s position on gay marriage hasn’t changed since the campaign in the 2000 election. Even when the Ober-buffoon John Kerry (who served in Vietnam) made his “gay daughter” remark during the ’04 debates, Cheney was openly against a gay marriage ban.

“….Cheney expressed his affection for his daughter at a rally in Davenport, Iowa, telling a forum that people should be free to enter "into any kind of relationship they want to."
That statement seemed to put Mr. Cheney at odds with President Bush, who supports a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage. Gay rights advocates accused the Bush administration at the time of trying to keep its conservative Christian base through Mr. Bush's stance, while broadening the Republican base by Mr. Cheney's seeming moderation on an emotional issue.”

    Typical leftist prejudice and stereotyping.
