Now that we are moving into a new year it is time for all of us to review and consider changes we might want to make in our lives, and I suppose that ought to apply to TMV as well.

I am working on a new weekly series on history and politics that will I hope readers will find interesting (I hope to start that in the next couple weeks) but I’d love to hear from the readers what else they’d like to hear/read at TMV.

So what do you say gang ?

With all that is heavy it has been nice to have the movie reviews, by Taylor Marsh. A little entertainment and what some might see as fluff brings a balance.

Would like for there to be a review of each of the current movies selected for the upcoming Academies…

It would be good to have more book reviews and perhaps music.

Also more posts on what is good and right about world, politics, and culture.

More posts on how the current issues and topics meet regular people.

Hope there is continuation of the post on gun legislation, hope it does not become a back burner until change has come forth.

I really appreciate all that post here, and these suggestions are on the lighter side, merely as a bit of balance.

many thanks

I agree… A ‘lighter side’ now and then would be nice. It would give commenters a chance to see (and show) that we all have other sides.

To poorly paraphrase John Prine, “Politics isn’t all that people are… Even those whose politics you don’t like.”

A daily or weekend “Open Thread” would be nice too.

History and politics OK, music, movies, TV shows (except for Duckman), cooking, etc., no.

Science, history, politics, oddball people and ideas. Book and movie reviews OK but let the response rate determine what people want to comment on.

Thanks for considering changes/additions to TMV’s excellent repertoire.

I just noticed we have a new “Travel” section and saw the first piece. Good.

I may post some myself and/or resurrect some oldie and hopefully goodies.

For sure… Travel section, also like open thread on the weekend…

TO ….”Oddball people” perhaps last year Republican coverage takes care of that?….

One of the great ones, i miss is Studs Terkel and personal narrative. You guys have a broad range of backgrounds and experiences…Maybe at times each of you could do posts on remarkable people– be they well known or not, places, or events that impacted your life or your view of history. What are the stories, places, people you will wrap around you self like a blanket someday as you sit on the porch in your rocking chair, is what i am trying to ask?

os

I was thinking more kooky than lunatic; and authentic not shilling for votes. For instance, one side of my family had a couple of somewhat famous people who I like to describe as thinking outside the box; others just called them “odd”. :-)

Science and innovation please. :)

Science and innovation by all means, so long as it isn’t just limited to the digital “communications” culture. I’m down with the poetry suggestion too as well as historical pieces. More book and movie reviews never hurt. Also I think TMV (all the people who make it work) is doing a great job as it is.
