It means Islam. It means Muslims. It means that an Arab-American woman from Dearborn, Michigan, who wins the Miss USA beauty pageant contest gets called “Miss Hezbollah” for the sole reason that her family comes from Lebanon:
Rima Fakih, Miss Michigan USA, who will compete in Sunday Night’s pageant broadcast on NBC, is a Dearbornistan Shi’ite Muslim who is a supporter of Hezbollah and used the pageant name at a forum promoting Islamic subjugation of women. She was born in the Hezbollah stronghold of Srifa in South Lebanon, which Israel was forced to attack in the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war because it was a site of Hezbollah weaponry. Her devout Muslim family comes from the Hezbollah-controlled South Lebanon. Intelligence sources confirm that at least three of Fakih’s relatives are currently top officials in Hezbollah and that at least eight Fakih family members were Hezbollah terrorists killed by the Israelis in past Israel-Lebanese wars and interventions. Some of her family members were originally in Harakat Amal [the Shi’ite Amal militia], which is now essentially a part of Hezbollah. There’s a reason that even Al-Manar TV–Hezbollah’s official TV network–is high on Fakih in the Miss USA pageant.
You can believe that, or you can read a more fact-based piece about Fakih published in the Detroit Free Press. Here is an excerpt:
With roots in south Lebanon — a region many in Dearborn have ties to — Fakih’s family moved in the early 1990s to Queens, N.Y. There, the family lived through the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
A student in a Catholic high school at the time, Fakih remembers stories of teachers and friends losing loved ones that day. She said she recalled one student ribbing her about being “the enemy,” but her friends stood up for her, and she didn’t feel any backlash.
After she graduated from high school, Fakih and her family moved in 2003 to Dearborn, known for having one of the highest concentrations of Arab Americans in the U.S. Relatives say she was always a tomboy, playing football with the boys and excelling in volleyball and basketball in school.
Her mother was the one who encouraged her to compete in beauty pageants, partly as a way to earn scholarship money. “When I did my first pageant, my mom was so happy. She was like … ‘My daughter is a princess again,’ ” Fakih said with a chuckle. Today, she works in marketing at the Detroit Medical Center, with plans for law school.
Michelle Malkin would have preferred Miss Oklahoma, but she “lost out,” Malkin tells us, because of her “support for Arizona’s immigration enforcement law and … states’ rights. … Looks like the Miss USA pageant didn’t want to risk the wrath of the open-borders mob.”
“Howie” at My Pet Jawa calls Fakih “a slut” — three times in the one post.
We are told Rima Fakih didn’t deserve the award because she tripped over the long train of her gown. We are told she is an idiot because she believes contraception should be covered by health insurance, “but since she’s of Arab descent, we have to give her the award, of course.” This, from JammieWearingFool, who does not explain how, if Fakih won the contest “because” of her Arab ancestry, no one with that ancestry ever won the award before her. I suppose the fact someone of Arab ethnicity wins Miss USA at all means the fix is in.
If you need more evidence of how real is the generalized hatred for all things Islamic and Arab on the far right, you’ll find all you can stand at Memeorandum.
