UPDATE #4: An eyewitness being interviewed on Fox says that the entire shooting took place outside security though he cannot be certain if security was breached after he fled the scene. Also reports that shooter was “young white male”

UPDATE #3: NBC is reporting one TSA agent killed.

UPDATE #2: Although we have no official word yet most of the networks are now confirming the suspect is in custody.

UPDATE: CNN is reporting that according to a “reliable source” the suspect has been shot and is in custody but no official word that the incident is over. No reports of serious injuries either. Fox news is also reporting the suspect is in custody.

Mixed reports on whether the shooter made it past security with some witnesses saying he did, but again we want to be careful about assumptions

Story just breaking this morning of a shooting at Los Angeles International Airport.

Details are still developing but there are reports of “multiple patients” in this incident and news coverage has shown people being rushed to ambulances. The regular networks are now breaking in to coverage so the story is growing.

The airport is now under a ground stop with no flights arriving or leaving. They seem to be setting up a command center so it may be that the shooter or shooters are still inside.

It appears that the bomb squad is on the way but is having difficulty getting through the traffic jam, reported at a mile or more long. Police are walking along the jam instructing drivers to pull over.

At this point it appears that security may not have been breached but that the shooting took place at the checkpoint itself. Again this is a fluid story so details coming out may later turn out to be inaccurate. For this reason I am trying to limit what I post.

An eyewitness on CNN says that he heard “some popping noises” followed by a stampede of people rushing in his direction in a panic. When he went to leave the area a security guard did not know what was happening yet but soon police arrived. He and others who had fled were then escorted by police to a secure area. He did not see the shooting itself or whether the checkpoint had been breached.

Obviously this story will continue to develop over the day and updates will be posted.
