When the devastating post-tropical cyclone Sandy hit the East Coast, I felt it would be a political advantage for President Obama and not his GOP rival Mitt Romney, who cannot sign one document ordering assistance in any of the affected cities. This disaster makes Mitt Romney look irrelevant and that works to President Obama’a favor. When you have the governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie, dismissing being seen with Romney in what would amount to a photo op, in a possible tour of the devastated areas in his city, that pretty much sums up his irrelevance. Well, it seems the Washington Post shares my views:
“For a day at least, Hurricane Sandy appears to have done for President Obama what he has not been able to do for himself.”
“In a campaign notable mostly for its negativity, the historic storm provided Obama with a commander-in-chief moment a week before Election Day. The president gained a rare moment of bipartisan praise, with Democratic and Republican governors alike commending the performance of the federal government. And the storm put on pause, for now, the sense that rival Mitt Romney had all the momentum in the home stretch.”
I don’t believe for a moment that Mitt Romney has that momentum they have been touting. Kinda reminds me of Baghdad Bob we claimed all was well in Iraq and Saddam Hussein was hiding in a rat hole, as U.S. forces gained control of key buildings, including his palaces. This comes as a recent Gallup poll found that a majority of Americans continue to believe that Democratic President Barack Obama will win re-election Tuesday over Republican challenger Mitt Romney, by 54% to 34%.
