On Obama’s Supreme Court Nominee
by Jordan Cooper
President Obama is not attending Justice Antonin Scalia’s funeral. That’s no surprise. Scalia hasn’t voted on his side during his entire term and had some controversial remarks about minorities too. My cousin Dean Blake Morant of the GWU Law School should be Obama’s next Supreme Court Nominee.
He has served as the dean of two of the top law schools. That is similar to the resume of Elena Kagan. He also has a degree from UVA in both undergrad and grad school. Then, he’s a member of the armed forces. He was honorably discharged from the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He studied at the University of Oxford as a fellow and was a legal counsel for Washington D.C.’s Transportation System. Plus, he’s taught at more than 10 schools of law as a professor.
With this being said, Dean Morant is regarded as one of the nation’s top legal minds. He’s shown his affinity for the private sector by working in a private law firm and serving as dean for two private law schools. Dean Morant is a role model for blacks and others alike. He’s known for being an aggressive advocate of civil liberties and the pliancy of the law based on the written text. He learned from his dad who was a Christian minister and retired postal carrier. Morant can bring God, the constitution, and America’s interpretative institute back to life.
Jordan Thomas Cooper is a 2015 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in History and a 2010 graduate of the Real
Estate School of Success in Irmo. He is the first African-American to serve in both the governor and lieutenant governor’s office as an aide and first to serve in the Inspector General’s Office in S.C. (Haley). He is also the first person to serve in the top three offices in thegubernatorial line of succession in South Carolina (Haley, Bauer,McConnell). He happens to be the second black presidential campaign speechwriter in American History and the first for a GOP presidential campaign (Bush 2015). He also played football for Coach Steve Spurrier.
