A BART police officer has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the shooting of an unarmed man during January of 2009.
The incident sparked a lot of controversy as the victim, an African American was not armed and had his child with him at the time of the event. At the same time the victim did continue to resist efforts to place him under arrest.
The officer had indicated that he thought he was drawing his Taser not his gun when he fired the shot.
So far no violent reactions or riots, but time will tell.
