Says it’s not because she thinks she cant get re-elected
Not because of anything, sorta, really really.
And that she will spend her time left in office fighting hard for ‘constitutional conservatism.’
It occurs to many of us that the trope-code amongst politicians is as weird as the code at the Vatican, words meaning not what they mean or more than they mean, or not meaning anything at all… just empty air– in order to throw off observers about what’s going on under the table…over there.
We know the trope of ‘quitting to spend more time with my family’ and all that really says in entire epistle form underneath it all.
We know the trope of ‘give someone else a chance.’
We also know the trope of “I’ve been a public servant for x number of years gol darn it and dagnabit, its time to ride off into the sunset now…”
What we can be more certain about than sophistratic [is that a word? It ought to be] language that says nothing about everything, is that unless there is blood or illness or death… the reasons for ‘bowing out’ in the midst of such success as Miss Bachmann has enjoyed… remain to be seen.
It may be that her own party finds her own congressional seat’ vulnerable. … but moreso they may, as Rove has been stentorian about, rise to public chastisement re Bachmann, to try to prevent one of their own from running and/or, refuse to support this one or that one financially and touting-wise.
Maybe Miss Bachmann cant actually gain the votes, not mainly for herself, but for the larger brass ring: the presidential race for ANY Republican if Miss Bachmann continues to pull the spotlight onto herself with her obvious enthusiasm for many important things, but also her as enthusiastic gaffes.
Some few hypsters called her ‘a firebrand.’ I don’t think she deserves that epithet more reserved for an Elmer Gantry-esque rant-character. But, hunch is, whatever, her brand may no longer bring the right kind of fire.
We shall see. Personally I wanted Miss Bachmann and Miss Palin too, Congresswoman and Governor, to have gravitas, thoughtfulness, weight, statesmanship. For there to be contendahs.
Instead, I think we got advanced cheerleadering. Cute and perky-bouncy. But without notion. And often without facts even a school kid would know about where nations are situated on the map, about how basic science and math actually work, about English and American literature.
