Sen. Ted Cruz is on a mission to hold another loaded gun to the heads of Americans. Realizing that the government shutdown he engineered to defund Obamacare is imploding, he now wants to tie it to the debt ceiling, The Hill reports. Um, House Speaker John Boehner also wussed out again, deferring to the wingnuts in his party and threatening to default. He maintains that unless President Obama negotiates we will head straight for a default. Doesn’t this sound like blackmail?
Sen. Ted Cruz hopes to see congressional Republicans tie raising the debt ceiling to demands over President Barack Obama’s health care law.
“We should look for ways to mitigate the harms from Obamacare,” the Texas Republican said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“The debt ceiling historically has been among the best leverage that Congress has to rein in the executive,” he added, and it should be used that way on the president’s health care law.
The debt ceiling should also be used as leverage “for some significant structural plan to reduce government spending” and to “avoid new taxes,” Cruz said.
”The president’s demand – jack up the country’s credit card with no limits and no constraints – is not a reasonable one,” he said. Source: Politico
I want to know why Ted Cruz is being allowed to run all over the Republican Party, unchecked, for all the wrong reasons.
