Award-winning comedian Joan Rivers died at age 81. She was hospitalized last week after going into cardiac arrest during an outpatient procedure on her throat.
Rivers daughter, Melissa, said: “My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh … I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.”
Melissa Rivers said her mother died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, The Wrap reports.
NBC New York reports NYC health officials have opened an investigation into Yorkville Endoscopy, the clinic where Joan Rivers stopped breathing during a throat procedure on Aug. 28.
