In the past, I have used my modest platform here to chastise some Democrats for being “sore losers” and not doing a very good job of playing the part of the loyal opposition while they were in the minority. I was apparently way off base, not knowing the the depths to which sore loserhood can be taken.
Georgia Senate threatens dismantling of USA
It wasn’t quite the firing on Fort Sumter that launched the Civil War. But on April 1, your Georgia Senate did threaten by a vote of 43-1 to secede from and even disband the United States. — It was not an April Fool’s joke.
Texas governor says secession possible
Texas Gov. Rick Perry isn’t ruling out the possibility his state may one day secede from the nation. Speaking to an energetic and angry tea party crowd in Austin Wednesday evening, the Lone Star State governor suggested secession may happen in the future should the federal government not change its fiscal polices.
Wow! And these aren’t some bloggers or disaffected protesters. It’s the elected leaders. Even in the darkest days of the last few years, I never heard New York and California threaten to break away from the United States. Of course, if both California and New York did leave the union, nearly half of the country’s economy would evaporate, but still…
