In entry number 752 of my ongoing, 4,000 part series of baseless and despicable attacks on Sarah Palin and her family, we find the soon to be ex-governor’s popularity heading for non viability as she packs her bags to evacuate the Alaska executive mansion. A new Washington Post – ABC poll seems to indicate a definite pattern in changing views towards Mrs. Palin, and they’re all heading in one direction.
As Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin prepares for the next stage of her political career, a majority of Americans hold an unfavorable view of her, and there is broad public doubt about her leadership skills and understanding of complex issues, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
Overall favorable view: 53 negative 40 positive
Independents: 51 unfavorable 40 favorable
Understands complex issues: 57 no 37 yes
Shares your values: 47 no 48 yes
Strong leader: 54 no 40 yes
Who is showing up as being viewed in a positive light among national Republican leaders right now? Hold on to your hats, but it’s Mike Huckabee.
There’s a vocal percentage of the Republican base who would think it was a brilliant strategy if Sarah Palin set her own hair on fire and ran screaming into the lake next to her home, but for America at large these numbers seem predictable. Abandoning her post as Governor is already turning into the poison pill many of us expected, and her numbers are cratering.
But please stick around and keep your hand in the game, Governor. The electoral off season would be boring beyond words without you.
