I am back from nearly a month on the road. I should have stayed gone longer, I fear. Fake scandal abounds.
Gasp!
Emails of top Obama appointees remain a mystery
Jack Gillum / Associated PressWASHINGTON (AP) – Some of President Barack Obama’s political appointees, including the Cabinet secretary for the Health and Human Services Department, are using secret government email accounts they say are necessary to prevent their inboxes from being overwhelmed with unwanted messages, according to a review by The Associated Press. The scope of using the secret accounts across government remains a mystery …
Ohnoes! Oh wait. I do that, too. But there’s more! (And, oddly, this “AP” story linked via crosslinking by rightie blogs is on “My Way News” not exactly a major outlet. Hmmm. And note the Usual Suspects acting as coprophageous bottom feeders on this story.)
A somewhat more honorable coprophageous bottom-feeder at work
Er, and had MISTER SUPER REPORTER WHO GUARDS OUR FREEDOMS BY TELLING US THE UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTHS WE NEED TO KNOW (instead of being a boot-licking corporate toadie who puts Angelina Jolie’s ex-boobs on the front page and ignores massive world-wide protests against Monsanto’s genetically modified crops, abrogating any notion of the utility of the “freedom of the press”) bothered checking, he’d have found that this is not a new practice and noticed, perhaps that he was an unprofessional dork. Right Gillum?
Bush Administration Appointees Also Used ‘Secret E-mail Addresses’
By Josh Israel on Jun 4, 2013 at 10:07 am
Think ProgressThe Associated Press reported Tuesday that some Obama administration officials utilize non-publicly listed e-mail addresses in addition to their publicly listed ones. But a ThinkProgress Freedom of Information Act request revealed that this common practice was also utilized by the George W. Bush administration and in no way shields those accounts from public records laws.
[…]
The AP story gives the impression that this is unprecedented, making no mention of the use of the multiple addresses by previous administrations.
U.S. Senators and Representatives also typically have non-published e-mail addresses, though Congress exempted itself from Freedom of Information laws. It seems obvious that political figures of both parties would need an unlisted e-mail address that cannot be easily guessed for communications with advisers and colleagues — just as cabinet secretaries private cell phone numbers would not be publicly available, though their main office number would be.
Despite Alexander’s concern, the release of this information shows that both the public and private email addresses are public record and that any legitimate FOIA request or subpoena for records would include those sent to and from both addresses.
The AP story, additionally, is all but terminally lame. Seriously:
The AP decided to publish the secret address for Sebelius – KGS2(at)hhs.gov – over the government’s objections because the secretary is a high-ranking civil servant who oversees not only major agencies like the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services but also the implementation of Obama’s signature health care law. Her public email address is Kathleen.Sebelius(at)hhs.gov.
This is NOT ONLY pathetic, but actively and actually harmful to the Secretary, and the AP reporter KNOWS it! This is infantile and idiotic.
(Else, why would he not include HIS private email address and cell phone number? What’s sauce for the goose, after all ….)
Not exactly Brenda Starr
This kind of lazy crap, thrown against the wall by a reporter with a clear destructive agenda (sorry: as with the GOPpers in KKKongress, the verdict of history is already in: if it looks like a Klan-directed operation, it’s going to be seen as a Klan-directed operation, all sophistries merely acting as soporifics for our self-deluded racists. The notion that they’d act as unfairly if it were a WHITE Democrat is already laughably slithering into the “Lost Cause” dustbin of outrageous, brain-dead and self-serving rationalizations).
Not exactly “The Front Page”
And, lest you accuse me of being unfair, sure, why the hell not?
It seems that being unfair and acting like a junior high school idiot makes one a “trusted” news source these days, and I certainly want to be that.
There is something ultimately self-defeating and pathetic about endlessly filling the “SCANDAL” tank with such low-octane swill.
“Maybe I can work for Faux!”
But, then again, Mr. Gillum’s phony revelation and attempt at a partisan political smear via wilful ignorance would be cause for editorial sanctions and discipline against our most unprofessional reporter in any professional organization not dominated by secret, corporate masters with a clear political agenda.
Fat chance of that.
The Dead Tree Media scores another blot on its blackened reputation.
Journalism majors at work
Ho hum.
Courage.
