We have had an interesting twist in the Republican primary race here in Oregon. The race is between pediatric neurosurgeon Monica Wehby and Jason Conger. Now Conger is a full blown wingnut while Wehby is not a social conservative so only about half wingnut. Just a few days before the election it was revealed that Wehby was accused of stalking an X boyfriend and there was a 911 call and a police report.
Oregon GOP Senate candidate Monica Wehby was accused by her ex-boyfriend last year of “stalking” him, entering his home without his permission and “harassing” his employees, according to a Portland, Oregon police report.
Wehby, a pediatric neurosurgeon, is the leading Republican candidate to challenge Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.).
Before this revelation Wehby had a double digit lead and was getting support from the Koch brothers who still seem to be running ads for her. Now in most states this might be a problem but here in Oregon we are 100% vote by mail and we received our ballots 3 weeks ago and probably well over half of the people who were going to vote had already cast their ballots.
Wehby is pro-choice but she did oppose Obamacare but does realize it’s simply not practical to repeal it now. Her opponent Conger is “pro-life” and is running on repeal of Obamacare. Keep in mind that Oregon is a Left Coast blue state and there was no possibility that Conger could defeat the Democratic incumbent in the general election. If 2014 is a really bad year for the Democrats Wehby might have an outside chance if not for this report. Her X boyfriend says he now regrets filing the report.
