I had no illusions that the recent Democratic victory would usher in an era of perfection, ponies, and light in Washington. But I was expected to have more than a week before being hit with a spectacular display of idiocy as both parties solidify their leadership team.

I must admit this is one reason to love divided government…it used to be just folks on the right banging their heads off the wall at the stupidity of their leadership in Washington.

But now the Democrats have power, and thus reason to get in touch with their inner idiots…

So it was a pleasurable change to see people on left wing blogs being boggled and amazed at the inexplicably dumbass actions of the Dems in Washington.

Maybe we can get a group rate on therapy?

“My fellow Republicans, it is time, as Madison said in Federalist 76, to “Hand over the tiller of governance, that others may fuck things up for a change.”
Christopher Buckley

For a great collection of articles by loyal Republicans who wanted the GOP to lose for the party’s own sake, surf over to the Washington Monthly.

At least we will now have some balance to the White House, some oversight that we have not gotten for a while now. Checks and balances are a very important part of our government.

Dick,

Do you think that the oversight; checks and balances; and divided government is good memes will still be around during the elections of 2008 when it looks like the Democrats will probably the presidency and have a senate of at least 60 Democratic Senators?

I suspect that January 2008 will be the last time that anyone talks about oversight or checks and balances.
