As an Aggie, Class of ‘69, I am so proud to be able to post this:

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel tonight became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy, college football’s premier individual award, after setting a single-season SEC passing record.

He beat out Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o and Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein for the award.

Good for him, but what does he do from now on, hard to better what came at an early age, hope it works out for him.

I’m an ‘honorary Aggie” … seriously, lol, came from giving lectures there. And I’m glad for the gig’ems. But /and also loved to see Manti Te’o with his family from Hawaii, Manti wreathed in living honorary swaths of greenery and lei as in the old ways, and Manti’s father wearing the ancient necklace of shined black, that is so highly prized amongst the native people. For me, that was as cool to see… and reminded me of how television chops the story to pieces and gives us only a few shreds of the actual story. At the Heismans, it should have been a filled out story about all three young men. I would have watched avidly.

Thanks again Dorian.

Dorian my eldest brother graduated from Texas A&M right at the same time as you did with a PHD in Food Science…He worked on formulating food that the astronauts took into space. He was the first person on both sides of my family to received a college degree and we were so proud of him… He first got an undergrad, then went into the military and then came back and finished the PHD with Texas A&M…Every Thanksgiving the family gathered around the T.V. to watch the Texas and Texas A&M rivalry. Also lots of Aggie jokes…He passed at 57, but so many good memories associated with Bob and Aggies….There is a scholarship in his name still for food science at A&M.

My undergraduate is from West Texas A&M that is located in Canyon Texas…Have never really known if that is an Aggie or not? But my heart will always be for Bob’s beloved Aggies.

thanks Dorian… great video that is really fun…and thanks for you Dorian with all of your goodness…

One final note about Bob my brother, he did have a great career… when he became Vice President of a large Fortune 500 company he was listed in Whos Who as the youngest man at that time to become a top executive…he was a good man,57 was to young, you would of known and liked him as a brother Aggie… Did not know that about the Maggies… that is funny too…
