Sarah Palin has just learned that she lacks clout in Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District.
The title of a RedState article says it all:
From NBC News: “Paul Ryan easily fended off a challenge in his primary race Tuesday against recent Wisconsin transplant Paul Nehlen, who contested the House Speaker with the same positions and talking points espoused by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.” That story goes on to state, “Nehlen received an early endorsement by rogue Republican Sarah Palin …”
On 05/08/16 CNN reported, “Sarah Palin will work to defeat House Speaker Paul Ryan by backing his primary opponent in Wisconsin, the former Alaska governor told CNN’s Jake Tapper.”
During her interview with Tapper, Palin declared that Speaker Ryan’s political career was over. Someone must have forgot to tell that to Republican voters in Wisconsin, because Speaker Ryan received 84% of the votes in his primary contest. As The Atlantic staff writer Molly Ball states, “That House Speaker Paul Ryan easily won his congressional primary on Tuesday, by a nearly 70-point margin, should not have surprised anyone.”
In a commentary published the day of the Wisconsin primary, Slate staff writer Jim Newell states that Paul Nehlen “… is expected to flame out in his bid against the speaker. He was a clown candidate who said dumb things and made howlingly awful commercials, and his loss today will be a comforting reminder that Trumpism has not yet gone local.”
Wall Street Journal reporter Kristina Peterson writes, “Some national GOP figures, including 2008 vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and conservative commentator Ann Coulter, rallied behind Mr. Nehlen, raising money and attention for his campaign in hopes of staging an upset like GOP Rep. Dave Brat’s ousting of former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in his Virginia primary in 2014.”
The powerless of Palin was seen during Oklahoma’s 2014 special election to replace U.S. Senator Tom Coburn. Palin endorsed GOP nominee T.W. Shannon, who lost the GOP primary to James Lankford, a member of Congress.
Granted, Palin’s supporters will insist that she isn’t powerless. However, as Colorado Springs business coach Chuck Kocher would say, “The proof is in the putting.”
The “Wanted” posters say the following about David: “Wanted: A refugee from planet Melmac masquerading as a human. Loves cats. If seen, contact the Alien Task Force.”
