Sally Fields Speaks Of Her Gay Son

If you want to see what a mother’s love looks like this is it (one sentence is profane but otherwise safe for work).

“A mother is not someone you lean on, a mother is someone who makes leaning unnecessary”

Sally is quite a lady, quite a mother.

    Thanks Patrick.

A friend’s evangelical beliefs caused her to be estranged from her daughter for years. She’s finally accepted her daughter in the last two years and now my friend is dying. She counts as a blessing their reconciliation and I am glad for my friend, but weep for the many years she shunned her daughter. A mother’s love should be as close to agape love as possible. Ms. Fields made the right choice since her son could not.

” Ms. Fields made the right choice since her son could not.”

Hi T.O. A little confused by this. Could you elaborate?

She made the choice to accept his gayness. He had no choice but to accept his gayness. My friend didn’t make the choice to accept her daughter’s and they both suffered for many many years.

Thanks for your answer. Having a wonderful, loving son myself, who happens to be gay,
I really appreciated and related to Ms. Field’s remarks, and appreciate yours, too.

Good on you and good on Ms. Fields. You will reap the rewards of knowing and loving a child that my friend has lost for so many years. We really do sometimes make our own hell on earth, do we not?
