Quote of the Day: Ryan Vows to Persist in “Destroying the Health Care System” (Department of Oops!)

Our political Quote of the Day is a particularly delicious one, via Rep. Paul “Cut Help to the Poor So Taxes Don’t Have to Go Up” Ryan, whose slip of the lip perhaps said more than a nonslip of the lip:

“This is something we will not give up on because we are not going to give up on destroying the health care system for the American people.”

(This is one promise I do believe..)

An unplanned moment of truth for Paul Ryan.

I’d say this is similar to the “wardrobe malfunction” which so often plagues some famous folks.

Is it really a “wardrobe malfunction” if you’re caught by a camera climbing out of a limo sans underwear? Is it really a “wardrobe malfunction” if a part of your anatomy barely held in check by a thin piece of fabric manages to escape it’s gossamer prison?

It isn’t really a stretch to say that Ryan and other sometimes devotees of Ayn Rand (when it is convenient) would gleefully dismantle Medicare, Medicaid, and any other program by where tax dollars went to helping provide health care for those who could not otherwise afford it.

The problem Ryan has with our health care system is not that private insurers are in charge of a good chunk of it, but that private insurers are not in charge of the whole thing.

To someone like Ryan no human being is more important than the ideal society he sees, no matter that the vision is a mirage.

I don’t know if Ryan is planning on running in ’16, but that quote would make a great soundbite for his opposition

Ryan is a distillation of what’s wrong with the GOP today. I don’t know why they keep pushing him to the front, he’s only going to dig the hole deeper for them.
