Today is something of a mini Super Tuesday with primaries in Arkansas, California, Georgia, Iowa, Maine, Montana, North Dakota, New Jersey, Nevada, South Carolina, South Dakota and Virginia.
Some of the races are pretty quiet. In North Dakota it’s pretty much a coronation for the next US Senator but in other states we’ve got some big races. In Arkansas we could see the 3rd US Senator go down this year, in California we’ve got some interesting ballot propositions, in Maine we’ve got practically the whole state running for Governor.
I’ll do my best to provide updates and information but we at TMV (or at minimum me at TMV) would welcome input and comments from those who live in these many diverse states.

Update Three: In South Carolina they have called the Democratic primary for Governor and the winner is Vincent Sheheen. On the GOP side Nikki Haley is up to 47% but still needs to get past 50% to avoid a runoff (about 37% of the vote is in)
On the Senate side for the Democrats first time candidate Alvin Greene is still leading with 58% of the vote and 45% counted. This is interesting as Greene was pretty much an unknown when he filed and has not done much advertising. The fact that he is African American could be a factor.
In Arkansas the results are just starting but Lincoln holds a narrow lead (though less than 1% counted)
Update Two: Polls are closed in South Carolina, where there is a contest for Governor and Senator.
Right now State Senator Vincent Sheheen has over 50% of the vote and would win the Democratic nomination for Governor if this keeps up, though there is only 15% of the vote in.
On the GOP side the edge goes to Nicky Haley with 43% to 25% for Congressman Gresham Barrett, though if this keeps up they’d need a runoff.
In the Senate Race incumbent Jim DeMint is the easy winner on the GOP side while the Democratic race shows first time candidate Alvin Greene ahead. Early polls had shown Greene losing to Vic Rawl, but I’d say either man would be an underdog to DeMint.
Update One: Polls are closed in Virginia now and most of the results are in. The only close race is for the GOP nod in the 8th district, where it’s pretty much a tie between the two candidates. The winner will take on often controversial Democrat James Moran but it’s a 2-1 or 3-1 Democratic seat so there is little value to the nomination.
Most of the rest of the contests seem to be pretty mundane but any comments are welcomed.
