Losing With Grace

Even as we are told by some pundits that Democrats and Republicans will now begin to get along at least a little better during this session, we are brought back to reality by Eric Dondero, former aide to Ron Paul, whose reaction to the election results was,

“All family and friends, even close family and friends, who I know to be Democrats are hereby dead to me. I vow never to speak to them again for the rest of my life, or have any communications with them. They are in short, the enemies of liberty. They deserve nothing less than hatred and utter contempt.

… Are you married to someone who voted for Obama, have a girlfriend who voted ‘O’. Divorce them. Break up with them without haste. Vow not to attend family functions, Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas for example, if there will be any family members in attendance who are Democrats.”

On an equally humorous, though far more profound note, Haley Barbour explained why Republicans lost seats in the Senate,

“We had some shitty candidates.”

Some days it’s easier to just cut and paste with quotation marks than to have to think and write.

I will continue to talk to Dems, there so friggin many of them.

  • I kinda hate having dinner in staunch right-wing homes. They so rarely stop talking, er I mean shouting, their political beliefs to everyone. It gets tiring & sucks the life outta any party.

  • dduck

I propose a swap program for we moderates. I will send you some liberals, you send me some righties. Instead of income distribution we will have zealot distribution.

  • Carl

I’m laughing. Some idiot thinks he can get away with not talking to his wife and hope to remain sane and unmolested, is going to lose far more than Democrats.

Liberty ends today for you bud.

  • sheknows

This is high comedy. Were these extremists always around during our presidential elections?… because I don’t remember them. They just crawl out of the woodwork.
I sincerely doubt that there will be any kind of agreement in Congress. Boehner is already staying with the signed pledge and fighting for the wealthy( as of ABC news tonight). The Reps will blame Obama for not ” compromising” and “leading us over the cliff” EXACTLY what their plan is. So much for the Republicans turning over a new leaf! I knew we would see the same old crap from Them.

  • dduck

SK, jeez it’s only a few days, give it a chance. Have hope.

  • Carl

You say Hope dduck? You’re catching on. Good duck.

  • sheknows

LOL dd…a few days. That’s longer than I originally thought I would give them 🙂

  • dduck

Even the Big Guy took seven days.

And Elijah, I haven’t heard any pundits saying the parties would get along any better. All I have heard is why they should get along better…for the sake of the nation (which they assume BOTH parties care about) We all heard Romney saying pretty words about cooperation in his exit speech..and I guess someone believed it in the media. The Reps certainly don’t care what he said…he’s out! Bye Mitt….now to business as usual.

  • IndyMod

I have to say this was a dirty campaign. I mean Romney was portrayed as a terrible man sending all jobs overseas. Like he had been the president already. Now I do hope the two sides can work with each other but after that campaign and those attacks I would not be surprised if they cannot.

  • sheknows

Well one thing Obama wants to do is to increase taxes for corporations who DO send jobs overseas. Yeah, The Dems ran with that one, and it wasn’t entirely true, but That one attack on Bain Capital was nothing compared to the attacks from the right. As to whether or not the TP congress will cooperate with the president? Well, I for one am not holding my breath, especially after Boehner’s recent comments today.

I’m a little worried about you duck. How do you know it wasn’t the big gal, or, big quacker for that matter?

All hope is lost. Let all Teabaggers move to Texas. Then they can secede from the god less USA.

Texas Republicans are already using the s-word.

One party official from Southeast Texas calls for — not secession — separation.

“Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government?” writes Hardin County Republican treasurer Peter Morrison, a Ron Paul supporter and author of a race-heavy Tea Party newsletter.

“Let each go her own way,” he writes, demanding an “amicable divorce” from the U.S. and from the “maggots” who re-elected President Obama.

Evoking the history of Confederate soldiers who refused to surrender after Gettysburg, Morrison, 33, calls for Texans to fight “in hopes that Providence might shine upon our cause.”

Morrison is particularly angry at Asian-Americans and Hispanics who backed Obama, accusing them of voting on an “ethnic basis.”

“‘They’ re-elected Obama,” Morrison wrote. “He is their president.”

Oh, did I mention that Morrison was chosen by former State Board of Education Chairman Don McLeroy to help screen Texas public school textbooks?

Morrison’s nasty newsletter has several hundred readers. It’s republished on Tea Party websites and redistributed by evangelical Republicans.

He(Morrison) does like Jews, even if they’re Republicans.

He has donated up to $40,000 per candidate and used his Morrison Report to oppose business conservatives allied with Texas House Speaker Joe Straus. In 2010, he used his newsletter to criticize Straus’ rabbi and wrote that Straus “lacks the moral compass” to lead.

I called Kent Batman of Kountze, chairman of the Hardin County Republican Party, to ask if the rest of his county party backs secession.

    Batman’s response: “Wow.”

He sighed and said, “OK, well — I guess I need to start taking a look at his newsletters.”

Today i posted on facebook the link to the video that Joe shared on Obama when he addressed his staff…

Here is the comments that i got from that link…

” You all are blind… businesses are laying people off all over the country since Obumboo won second term. More people to go on welfare. Loving heart???… you people are totally blind as a bat. He sat back and allowed 4 of our people to die last month and then fire the ones that tried to help them. After watching them die he then flew off to Las Vegas and partied the rest of the night. You call that a loving heart! Wake up! Get your head out of the sand. Look around you, this country is dying! Soon many people will be as well. Obama is a criminal! Did you people even look at what in the obamcare pkg. He wants babies and old people to die and the younger people brainwashed/brain dead easy to control ones as slaves.” LD

To which i replied… L good to see you.. in truth am not resonating with your view but honor you always…love and peace beyond the differences… sparrow

” It does not matter rather your view resonates with mine, Sparrow. That is not going to stop the layoffs and deaths. Obamcare has not even kick in yet, but because of it we are already paying nearly double in insurance because of it. Or insurance cost more than what are the taxes we have to pay. It is not hardly worth working any more. All Democracies end up crashing sooner or later. I would not be surprise if this one crashes before this year is over. Where you able to buy any gold to see you through? I don’t think there were very many people able to do that. Do you think the government is going to help? They didn’t even help those few poor people up north who do not have any electricity still. LD

“The is one of the main reasons I was not for Obama.” LD

“Barack Obama, 44th president of the United States of America. He is so enthusiastically in favor a sacrificing babies on the altar of Planned Parenthood that when he was a state senator he voted 3 times against the “Born-Alive Infants Protection Act”. The bill recognized babies born after attempted abortions as persons and required doctors to give them care.’ Obama voted to withhold that care. 3 times. Under his recently-passed Obamacare bill, abortion is now taxpayer-funded. That means that all America shares in the killing of these babies, their blood is upon all of us.” LD

I sure don’t see any love in that!” LD

    to which i replied:
Linda sorry friend but we are living in some kind of parallel reality here…. it would be senseless for me to present how i see your view as wrong and mine as right… out of respect of heart i can not do that to you or myself….to much honor and good will to go down that path… All i know to do is to pause and pray for the highest good for all… may President Obama and all of the leaders know guidance from the Source of all wisdom and safety… and may all know peace….

    to which she replied:

” I hope your right Sparrow, but you did not answer my question. Did you read what is in the obamacare pkg? It isn’t good and socialist democracy do not last. They end up with all God given rights taken away from the people and a dictator who controls the people until war brings it all down. The only light I see is that as the people become more poor they will be forced to eat the GMO foods which will sterilized them, so at least the babies will not be conceived only to be murdered.” LB

At this place i just gave up trying to say anything back….
Now tell me Tidbits, how does one begin to hold a conversation with that kind of anger? There are lots of anger toiling…

This week has been hard for the Republicans and the Democrats that have been penned by the Republican rage this week…phew… i cannot help but be concerned for Obama’s safety with the degree of anger that is out there…

  • Sparrow,

I cannot answer you in words that could explain or sooth. So many hearts and minds have grown so hard and cold and rough. Outcomes cannot be accepted; must be denied, refuted. A setback is excuse for armed revolt, secession.

Don’t ask me. I have no answers. Once I thought that I was young and idealistic and did not understand the world. Now I am old and have seen the world, and I still do not understand. Pray, I think, for change in people’s hearts.

Here is what I wrote on my Facebook page not long after the election had been called for Obama:

Dear Republicans: Now you know exactly how your Democratic friends felt in 2004. Even though the election should have been in the bag for you guys, your party ran a stiff, out of touch Massachusetts flip-flopper teamed with a good looking young phony for a running mate. Do us all a favor and suck it up.

Dear Democrats: You’re in the same position as your Republican friends were in 2004…your weak incumbent managed to beat a weak challenger. Do us all a favor and don’t gloat. You squeaked by on this one, and the mid terms will probably not break in your favor. This is not a mandate…it is a reprieve.

  • ordinarysparrow

Tidbits ….read both this comment and the ones you and Dorian shared back and forth on General Petraeus….

There are people that take the heart out of you with their heartlessness and there are ones that put it back with their goodness….. thanks

  • sheknows

The greedy, greedy, HEALTH INSURANCE companies have already started to raise rates. THIS time they are using Obamacare as the excuse. And of course, people are so angry over having to pay more, they BELIEVE them. The ugly truth of the matter is that these mega corporations ( who lobbied against HRC) cannot lose…only WE lose. They raise their rates and blame Obama, but would have raised them anyway. ( They do every year or hasn’t everyone noticed). Everyone is using Obamacare as an excuse to riase costs, traise premiums, fire people, etc etc. It’s total BS by the corporations who run this country, and the little lackey Republicans who cater to them.

  • Carl

Holla! I could have written that myself.

Both you and tidbits are trying to head game people, even Dorian. Big fail there, especially in the eyes of God.

  • dduck

OS, I have a huge advantage over you guys, I don’t FB, nor do I store explosive materials in my body orifices or even lick toads. 🙂
I was hoping that the election would tamp down the ill feelings that emanated from both sides like well preserved sewer gas. I expect that the more moderate among us have calmed down, but the outliers are still there as evidenced by your pen pal. We also have some very angry people hereabouts that are prone to exaggerations and heavy casting of evil and inaccurate rhetoric; I guess it’s normal, but also too bad.

  • ordinarysparrow

dduck… you are sane about fb… but do tell me did you stop licking the toad after they took it into protective custody?

” A strange man, (whose name may of been dduck) has been accused of using a toad to get high.

Clay County sheriff’s deputies said ‘this strange man’ possessed a Colorado River toad with the intention of using it as a hallucinogenic.

Experts said it’s possible to lick the toad’s venom glands to achieve psychedelic effects.

Most pet stores don’t sell the Colorado River toad because the venom can sicken humans and kill household animals.

“People used to do it all the time, but it got faded out awhile, but came back as a fad. Not a smart one,” animal expert Danny Snyder told KMBC’s Dion Lim. “The toxins in it can kill a lot of stuff.”

Authorities said this is the first time Clay County has dealt with this sort of hallucinogen.

The strange man was released on bond.

The toad is in custody at a police crime lab.”

    KMBC- TV

    poor toad!

  • dduck

OS, I’m sorry I meant to say lick toes, I thought the toad thing had died out.
