I’m not sure if I’m sad, happy, bored or angry. (What a country!) Our old friends at the Catholic League have hammered a new list of demands to the cathedral door and called on the Democrats to revoke the credentials of some bloggers attending the convention in Denver this year.
Over 120 blogs have been credentialed as members of the media for the Democratic National Convention; those who have received credentials are allowed to cover the Convention at the Pepsi Center. While most of them offer legitimate commentary, some do not.
Catholic League president Bill Donohue is protesting two of the blogs:
“The list of credentialed blogs include radical sites like The Daily Kos. Worse are blogs that feature anti-Catholic and obscene material. The two most offensive are Bitch Ph.D. and Towleroad.
What’s wrong with TMV? Don’t we slaughter our share of sacred cows? I have surely, all by my lonesome, offended pretty much every major and minor religion on the planet since starting here! (Well… except the Wiccans. Frankly, they scare the living you-know-what out of me, a number of them are friends of my wife, and I just don’t have the spine to tick them off.) Why wouldn’t you want them to give US the boot?
Oh, that’s right. We were never invited in the first place. (deep sigh.) The Republicans invited several of us for desks at the big bash in Minnesota, and John McCain gets skewered here on a daily basis. The Libertarians practically send donuts over every Sunday morning. The Democrats? Even with the seriously pro-Obama writers on this blog, (of which I’m not one, but I don’t dislike the guy) we don’t even get invited to the conference calls. (deep sigh redux)
Well, Democrats, if you want to let the Catholic League start dictating who can or can not come to your party, let me know how that works out for you. In fact, you may want to take some advice from Ed Morrissey on the subject. If you need me, I’ll be trying to chase down an interview with Ralph Nader.
