Is Mitt Romney The Real Tax Victim?
A bunch of whining poor people are angry because Mitt Romney said they think of themselves as victims. But you can understand why Mitt feels that way. He and people like him see themselves as the real victims when it comes to taxes, not those working pay-no-taxes moochers.
While the working poor may pay no income tax, they do pay their share of the Payroll Tax that funds Social Security. Mitt Romney, meanwhile, according to figures he has deigned to release to date, paid 13.9 percent on his own income as taxes because of lower unearned income tax rates and various other tax advantages only the rich get to enjoy.
So some poor Joe or Jane who might be earning $20K a year is actually paying just half of the tax on income as Mitt, whose wealth is estimated at a quarter billion dollars and whose yearly earnings pile up at the rate of additional millions.
Is this fair? Shouldn’t the two pay the same percentage? Say, by cutting Mitt’s taxes as he proposes, while increasing the $20K income earner’s taxes more to make up the lost government revenues?
Poor Mitt and his country club pals. No wonder he’s running for President. If he loses, I’m thinking of taking up a collection. These people have suffered enough.
