Hidden Players in DC Doomsday Liar’s Poker

Maureen Dowd offers a Planet of the Apes scenario for 2084 America, while Gail Collins goes the other way in a Frankenstein revival with Ted Cruz as you-know-what.

All well and good for reason-strapped observers, but future and past parodies can’t match what the Shutdown is doing now. In South Dakota at Mt. Rushmore, those huge stone heads of Presidents past are averting their eyes as cones are placed on the highway below to keep tourists from stopping to ogle them. Only a Black Hills blizzard gets the National Park Service to take them down temporarily.

No news about the nearby historic saloon in Deadwood where Wild Bill Hickok was killed holding those famous aces and eights.

Back in Washington, nobody has a winning hand, but John Boehner refuses to fold, raising the ante with yet another threat of default if the President doesn’t throw in his cards.

Call it Doomsday Liar’s Poker, the ultimate version of insanity in Michael Lewis’ 1989 book portraying how greedy, reckless Wall Street morons were inflating the stock market and heading it toward ruin. Only this time the game is being played in Washington, and the stakes are the nation’s economy.

Even some of the players are the same. The New York Times describes how Tea Party plotters planned the current impasse with Reagan’s Attorney General Edwin Meese III leading the way. Meese was a bad apple even back then, who resigned his post after involvement in the Wedtech scandal, a bid-rigging scheme was uncovered by an independent prosecutor. Now Meese is a “Conservative” icon.

The infamous Koch brothers are back too…

Not just the US. The entire world will feel a US default.

without wanting to sound like a conspiracy theorist, I think the Koch bros are behind this whole shutdown along with Meese. They have about 80-90 Billion between them and have sponsored the TP from the beginning. I think these guys want to own the world. They have so much money and power, they are truly the puppet masters of the Republican party. They buy politicians like any commodity.
The Constitution states that any members of congress can get rid of any other members within their house, by a 2/3 vote. Bingo..and they are out! (article 1 section 5) That provision has not been amended either.
So we know the Tea Party is favored by the majority of Republicans. The rest of them are too afraid of the Kochs and their minions if they want to continue their careers.
I guess the reason the Dems don’t have this kind of backing and behind the scenes leadership, is their reluctance to have a corporate owned America.

Thee kochs let the TP run wild, saying outrageous things..whatever. They are their own entity backed of course by them. They also come in handy to blame for the shutdown, even though anyone with any sense knows that a supposed small minority of any political party could not accomplish such a thing, it is a deflection that keeps you from looking behind the curtain. I simply do not believe that this shutdown is over Obamacare, and Boehner STILL will refuse to negotiate without it on the table. Are the people so media drugged and stupid that they believe that a federal law which cannot be changed without the approval of SCOTUS is STILL why there is a shutdown?? Think about it. Perhaps there is something else behind this? Just saying…..
