Does History Channel’s Devil in “The Bible,” Played by Mehdi Ouzaani, Resemble President Obama?

The right wing will stop at nothing to compare President Obama to the Devil. How else would you explain people like Glenn Beck saying the Devil in the hit mini-series “The Bible” resembles President Obama? What do you think? Some viewers of Sunday evening’s episode said they noticed the remarkable resemblance to the 44th president. Is this much ado about nothing? Seems that way to me, but you never know.

The mini-series, created by Mark Burnett, has been a big hit in the ratings for the History Channel, pulling in 13.1 million viewers on Wednesday, shellacking American Idol with its 12.8 million viewers on Wednesday. The actor who plays Satan on “The Bible” is Mehdi Ouazzani. The History Channel issued a statement saying the resemblance of President Obama and the Devil wasn’t intentional.

The Hill: “HISTORY channel has the highest respect for President Obama,” the network said in a press release. “The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It’s unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. HISTORY’s ‘The Bible’ is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history.”

Mark Burnett and Roma Downey also blasted the controversy as “utter nonsense.” They said, “The actor who played Satan, Mehdi Ouzaani, is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor. He has previously played parts in several Biblical epics– including Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our president.” Um, one little tidbit, Mark Burnett is behind Donald Trump’s television success and is also behind the push to teach the Bible in public schools.

Here’s the character that had Twitter abuzz Sunday night:

Whether the obvious similarity was intentional or not, Obama’s detractors hardly need any more persuading to be convinced he is the worst leader America has ever experienced in it’s nearly two and half century history. They love to hate him, it’s that simple.

Looks like Obama after a quick peek in the Ark of the Covenant 🙂

  • dduck

Nah, this guy looks like a determined person of action.
On the other hand, er, foot, we’ve never seen Obama’s feet. 🙂

you are NOT serious. Serious? It’s like the weirdo pix by Time mag of OJ where they darkened the pix by at least 4 values of black to make him look unshaven and far worse than he actually looked not that he looked all that great at that time… and…. Time thought no one would notice their meddling. But, didnt work. But again, this pix is seriously an out-take from the actual film on real History Channel?? No one with photoSham ‘fixed it’ up?

I was just looking at the two photos with my image comp software. It’s not even close in the shape and slant of eyes. Hatchet marks between brows, check. Sorta kinda close on the nose, though BO’s doesnt flare upward at outside nostrils. Eyebrows drawn on actor far longer than BO with ‘bird wing’ not matching.

It’s from the nose down that the similarity seems to exist significantly. The mouth troughs [smile lines], the lip bow full and prominent, the chin narrowed side to side, but same fat prominence at chin, and chin slightly underbid re the classic distance from the tip of the nose.
And… I too wonder why devil isnt redheaded and freckled from all that ash and flamerama. lol

Sometimes both parties become way to touchy! So first, Batman’s foe was named Bane, and Republicans screamed about how similar it was to “Bain” Capitol.

In the long list of Hollywood movies and ads for them, I am sure just about every one has a look-alike or near-cookie cutter double. So, we should remember that, like beauty, the Devil is perceived in the mind of a beholder, not just his eyes. In any new production We will probably see many dead ringers, but most of these will be watching their careers—not the claims about another’s.

Its as though Obama aged badly over 20 years and then got a part as a badass in the remake of The Road!

But the resemblance is striking and scary. Its probably a coincidence, and not intentional, but the timing could not be worse, because as Zephyr pointed out the President’s enemies hardly need encouraging since many are already hearing this in church and on talk radio.

the wart on the chin is absurdly like the witch;s old chin wart in disney’s snow white. In fact, I think that must have been the inspiration for this particular ‘devil’… walt must be a’rollin’.

Christianities roots were in the ME, where everyone looks like Mehdi Ouazzani(Arabic). But I bet Jesus looks like the Calvinist Norwegian type, Jesus white good – dirty Arabs non-white bad…

oh no rudi, i hope not. I was just thinking how striking the tribal groups from the mideast are, and how most 2000 plus years ago and forward, were agri people and travelers… farmers, shepherds, fishermen, soldiers, and from the sun, how, as song of solomon sings, ‘black you are black my love…’

  • Today

I don’t believe for a second that the History Channel accidentally made the devil look “black” and weirdly similar to President Obama.

  • yoopermoose

I find it more disturbing that the devil is portrayed as dark skinned. If the devil does show up, I think he/she is more likely to be bloned and blue eyed with a set of pearly white teeth charming his/her way into our hearts.

  • dduck

The devil is in the details and we are the details.

  • zephyr

Probably not a coincidence. Also agree with yooper, the devil would be far more likely to adopt an Aryan appearance.

  • dduck

Ok, guys just spit it out and stop the behind the hand giggling, the devil would look like Paul Ryan.

  • brcarthey

Actually, I always thought he looked liked Dick Cheney. How he hides those horns with his thin hair on top is nothing short of genius. 😀

J/K!! I’m only messin’ with ya dduck.

    @zephyr, hmm….and look like someone…say….Ann Coulter?
