Dem corruption

The editors of the New Republic have some harsh words[subscription only] for House Democrats, who toppled a GOP majority in 2006 by promising to clean up Washington. Charlie Rangel and John Murtha, two of the most senior and powerful Democrats in the House, are an embarrassment.

Late August brought the stunning revelation that Rangel failed to note two bank accounts, each containing somewhere in the range of $250,000 and $500,000, on past financial disclosure forms. Add to this the unreported $75,000 in income from a beachfront villa, illegal rent-stabilized apartments, and other problems and you begin to understand why it is taking the ethics committee so long to sift through all of the complaints. If that weren’t bad enough, there’s the brazen condescension with which Rangel brushes off the allegations. “I recognize that all of you have an obligation to ask questions,” Rangel recently told reporters, “knowing that there’s none of you smart enough to frame it in such a way that I’m going to respond.”

If Rangel thinks reporters are dumb, imagine what he thinks of his constitutents. All I know is that, somewhere, Tom Daschle is fuming about double standards.

Well not Democratic politicians but certainly tied to them at least somewhat

2 ACORN Employees Fired, Could Face Criminal Charges,2933,549001,00.html

The staffers appeared to commit federal tax fraud by offering to help them — for a fee — to establish a child brothel, legal experts say.

In a video made public Thursday, two visitors to an ACORN office in Baltimore told staffers they needed assistance securing housing where the woman, a 20-year-old who called herself “Kenya,” could continue to run her prostitution business.

An ACORN official told the couple how to falsify tax forms and seek illegal benefits for 13 “very young” girls from El Salvador that they said they wanted to import as prostitutes.

    Videos here:–8

Gee aren’t we glad we gave this group taxpayer money via the Stimulas…..

This “Story” was made public on “The Glenn Beck Show” Any more questions? Oh, you again Leonidas.

    • Civil_Voice

Yes. I have a question: Given that this is video evidence, why didn’t CNN pick it up ( or anyone else, for that matter)? Does your unbridled hatred turn facts into lies when they’re on the wrong network?

      • Jim_Satterfield

        They did pick it up.

  • StockBoySF

I don’t understand why Rangel and Murtha are still about.

  • StockBoySF

Re the ACORN employees. They were fired. In every organization there are bad seeds. Laws were potentially broken and the matter is being handled appropriately. I don’t see the point unless ACORN came to their defense and defended their behavior.

  • JeffersonDavis

Do you mean to tell me that one finds “no” truth from Glenn Beck?
I thought you liberals were fighting generalizations and stereotypes.

Dems have plenty of corrupt individuals. GOP has plenty of corrupt individuals.
Corruption is a product of unchecked power and empathy of the citizenry.

And like the StockBoy mentioned in a different context, “In every organization there are bad seeds”.

The problem is, StockBoy….. ACORN did most of it’s hiring from the “bad seed pile”.

Then I suppose Republicans would want ethics reform if they truly were concerned about Democratic corruption- at least in New York This just in today:

Senate G.O.P. Blocks Stronger Albany Ethics Rules:

But I guess the Republicans fear that passing ethics reform would hurt the GOP more than it would hurt the Democratic Party.

No problem always happy to provide a liberal an opportunity to make a clown of himself with an ad hominem in the face of hard evidence, in this case on video.

Great, back to grade school tactics again….

Wilson embarasses the entire conservative movement by acting like a 2 year old and their response is….”So, liberals are bad too!”

Yes, they are…but that has nothing to do with Wilson.

Reps needs to find a way to punish Wilson for his actions and then be done with it.

Just wait until ACORN and other libbies join the Dems for Census mischief, followed by redistricting.

    Update on ACORN

Census Bureau Severs Ties With ACORN

The Census Director has sent a letter to the National Headquarters of ACORN notifying the group that the Census Bureau is severing all ties with the community organizing group for all work having to do with the 2010 census. ACORN had previously been tapped to help with low level data gathering. A copy of the Director’s letter has been sent to Congress and relevant committees, as well as ACORN.

This latest news comes as two more ACORN officials were fired Friday after a second video surfaced showing staffers in the community organizers’ Washington office offering to help a man and woman posing as a pimp and prostitute acquire illegal home loans that would help them set up a brothel.

  • Leonidas

More ACORN news:ACORN Fires More Officials for Helping ‘Pimp,’ ‘Prostitute’ in Washington Office,2933,549241,00.h…Yup the Washington D.C. office did the same thing the Baltimore office did.Videos of the 2nd office helping pimps and prostitutes

So not just one isolated incident, those bad apples seem to be spreading.
