ACORN Sues, Frank Condemns

ACORN has sued the activists who caught various ACORN workers seemingly supporting the importation of underage sex slaves. While I long ago gave up on the idea that the people running this group were smart, this is mind  bogglingly stupid. If, as in this case, you sue based on reputation then you are basically opening up all of your records to review by the attorneys for the other side. Given all the problems they’ve had I’m not sure they really want this much scrutiny.

Another sign that they are in deep trouble, even Barney Frank has given up on them.

Strange, I don’t recall anybody being arrested. Must not have been any crimes committed. Now that we are alerted, lets see some more heritage foundation fascists walk into the offices under false pretensions and run out with busted heads. Then you may have something to complain about.

The lawsuit is based on Maryland’s wiretap law. By failing to alert ACORN of the wiretap they broke the law. That’s the nature of the suit, ACORN’s comic mismanagement notwithstanding.

The lawsuit may have some foundation, but it is still a bad move by ACORN.

As to the idea that a conservative group doing undercover investigations is evil but when 60 Minutes or Michael Moore does it then the move is wonderful, I don’t get that.

Goota wonder how smart they are with this lawsuit, it only will extend the amount of time they spend in the headlines over this fiasco.

Good for Barney Frank, one of the very rare times I agree with him. They still have some Congressmen who support them though

and aside from those 75 in the house 7 senators

    Dick Durbin (D-IL)
    Roland Burris (D-IL)
    Robert Casey (D-PA)
    Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)
    Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
    Bernie Sanders (I-VT)
    Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)

ACORN may be a bad organization. But its mortal enemies are bad people too and ACORN is right to take them down if they can.

You know people by whom their friends are and by whom their enemies are. When john Fund and the Editorial Page of the Wall Street Journal put you at the top of their enemies list, you must be doing something right. When your enemies punch you in the face, you kick in the balls cause if you don’t they’ll be back tomorrow to punch you in the face again…

So you think investigative journalists are bad people?
You know folks like Woodward and Bernstein? I think John Stewart might have had the best take on this whole thing.

  • Remember Linda Tripp? The ONLY person to be indicted or convicted of ANYTHING in the Clinton/Lewinsky fiasco. She was convicted of illegal wiretapping. Why bring this up? Because it is those who break the law playing vigilante who deserve our scorn and prosecution. How about it, rightists? No respect for law and order here? Your side got your “gotcha.” And broke the law to do so. Oh how superior you think you are!

  • DLS

ACORN’s enemies are normal, decent people. Let’s not be engaging in fradulent moral equivalence.

ACORN deserves the RICO treatment, even though the scum of society would shriek “Racist!”

  • I have no idea what the “scum of society” would “shriek.” (Oh, is that me, DLS?) I doubt you or anyone could make a RICO case against ACORN. Some of their now-fired employees were really stupid, but I’ve seen no evidence of a conspiracy to assist potential brothels. HAVE YOU?
