My niece Lotte
Yesterday evening: my brother-in-law phones us, my sister was having contractions. She was almost 42 weeks pregnant. If the baby wouldn’t be here by Thursday morning 7.30 they would – to put it bluntly – go in and take it. Because the contractions were so bad / severe, my mother advised them to go to the hospital immediately. My sister wanted my mother and father to be present, they wanted to be present as well, so they took off.
Last night, 1 AM: baby still not born. Contractions getting worse.
Today, 2.45 PM: phone call. My sister on the line (corrected): she just (well, actually an hour before) gave birth to a beautiful little girl. All in all, they’ve got two now. The other one is three years old. After that talked to mother, probably the world’s proudest mother and grandmother.
My brother-in-law sent me a picture of the little baby immediately once he arrived home (30 minutes ago), I have published at the top of this post. She looks absolutely beautiful and very, very sweet.
I know… this blog is about politics (and books and movies, etc) and not about babies being born, but I wanted to take the time to congratulate my sister and brother-in-law with their wonderful baby. I’m incredibly happy for them (and for my parents and myself of course). I thank God for his blessings. It’s a wonderful day.
