If the Senate passes the 9/11 first responders bill in this lame duck session of congress, it proves several things. One, Republicans can be shamed into doing the right thing, and two, Jon Stewart deserves Emmy, Peabody and Pulitzer awards.
First, read this account of a successful Republican attempt to block the necessary legislation last week.
Now read and view Stewart’s epic Thursday night.
If the Republicans are going to draw the line at funding 9/11 first responders victims as too expensive, they will have set the bar so high nothing is worth fighting for, even our own country and fellow man.
These people are neither patriots nor pinheads, but evil practitioners of a death panel beyond their wildest imaginations.
The chief sponsor of this bill in the House is Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-NY. After reading the links on her website, I challenge anyone to argue why this bill should be voted down.
It corrects mistakes of the past and pays for part or all the additional costs by closing tax loopholes of multinational corporations doing business in the U.S.
To argue otherwise is shameful.
