Mashable’s Christina Warren marks the release of the first official trailer for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland:

aliceposter2_sm.jpgEven before the first teaser trailer was leaked online, the Internet has been buzzing about Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland project. The film hits theaters on March 5, 2010, and the studio has carefully revealed information relating to the film — like posters — using social media sites like Facebook and Flickr…. With Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, the film looks pretty amazing. This was the film Tim Burton was born to make.

Embedded above, to really appreciate it she recommends watching in HD on Apple.com. For more on the film, Wired has a Q&A with Burton. Unsurprisingly, the trailer takes MTV back to the classic video for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ “Don’t Come Around Here No More.”

Last month the NYTimes found the Museum of Modern Art’s expansive retrospective of Buton’s noncinematic art a letdown. Wired was more favorable, saying it offered a peak into the director’s twisted genius.

Oh, hell yes! Can't wait! What a great year for Alice lovers! Syfy just put out a new version of Alice too — obviously a made-for-tv movie, but quite well done, an interesting vision, and holy cow the Hatter played by Andrew Lee Potts is so much hotness…

Computer generated crap. Perfect for a horrible over actor like Dep. He really should stick to the theater. He’ll scare the children.

Is there any joy in your life at all? You seem to hate everyone and everything. Maybe the hating itself brings you some sort of perverse happiness?

Looks good. I loved the book of course. Thanks for the heads up.
