Carrie Prejean “Still Standing” After Sex Tape

prejean.jpg

Due in November, Prejean’s Still Standing: The Untold Story of My Fight Against Gossip, Hate, and Political Attacks, has a foreword by Sean Hannity. Prejean was a guest on his show last night.

From the LATimes, Top of the Ticket:

The handsome host noted that the high-powered, celebrity website TMZ claimed to have a sex video of the beautiful Prejean that was so outrageously explicit it hasn't posted it yet. But people can feel free to keep clicking back there every few minutes to check. If they don't mind someday maybe coming upon a naked female conservative with bipartisan augmentations.

Prejean replied – insert teasing pause hereyes, there was a tape she had done as a teenager. She made it for a distant boyfriend whom she loved at the time. She said TMZ can call it a "sex tape" if it wants. But she was alone on the video and no one else was in the room.

So everyone (except TMZ, Prejean's mother and the ex-boyfriend, who presumably provided the tape of his beloved) is left to imagine what songs Prejean chose to sing on her karaoke machine that night.

Prejean said it was the “biggest mistake” she’d ever made in her not-yet-lengthy life. She regretted it. She felt mortified talking about it, but it was her own fault. And that as a Christian she’d never claimed to be perfect.

The Huffington Post has the (Hannity) video. TMZ has an excerpt from Prejean’s book on pornography. And a catty Perez Hilton comments on Prejean’s claim that Miss California director Keith Lewis pressured her to get breast implants even after she “expressed reservation.”

No surprise here. Nice job of pre-empting the issue by Prejean's PR team. Now the Christian Right can...well you know what they'll do...to her video(s) before they watch her "witness" on tv.

Apologies in advance to honest Christians. The reference is to the hypocracy of many on the Christian Right and is not meant as a slight to true believers.

[shrug] Nearly all of the material in all the stories involving this woman have been at the urging (with the low-level connotations the word has in this context, properly) of the far left and its hatred as well as overt PC brownshirt behavior. To this day it's the nature of her enemies and the enmity that is the real news.
  • AustinRoth
DLS - you overstate the issue.

It is nothing more than the normal, paparazzi-based celebrity cult culture, and the desire to tear down ANY public figure when the opportunity presents itself.

They are an equal-opportunity smear machine, IMHO.
  • DLS
"you overstate the issue [...] paparazzi-based celebrity cult culture [...] equal-opportunity smear machine"

I don't believe I'm mistaken in this case, where left-extremist PC heat levels are clearly elevated.
  • DLS
    "left-extremist PC heat levels"

    ... and underlying hate levels

I'll never understand why people make these tapes-- they always come back to haunt them. And the media delighted in bringing us Clinton's sex tape-- so I think DLS that you are off the mark on this one.

If they enjoy exposing the hypocrisy of the religious right, though, I don't blame them.

"I think DLS that you are off the mark on this one"

That's two, so far, who say so. I still would say, note the prompt tantrums and ugliness that directly resulted from her remarks during the pageant. She otherwise would never have been (made obviously by the far Left) into a news story. (Test: Imagine what would have happened, or more importantly, not happened, had she taken the left-activist minority stance on gay marriage when asked about it, instead.)

Now, in advance of any additional ugliness, I'll just fire up the Bunsen burner for a moment:

Oh kritt, I agree so very much. Why would anyone make such a tape? And obviously this happens to any celebrity, regardless of political views.

Hey AustinRoth -- not every day you get accused of being part of the PC left-extremist crowd! Welcome to the club!

"I don't believe I'm mistaken in this case"

DLS -- I would challenge you to name an incident in which you believed you were mistaken. "I was mistaken that one time when I thought I might be wrong" doesn't count!

"I would challenge you to name an incident in which you believed you were mistaken"

I was willing to trust ObamaCo and this year's Congress to attempt a stimulus, despite knowing the nature of these people and what they probably would be tempted to do if given the chance. I thought they might at least, the first part of this year, do something sensible. As, no doubt, others thought.

I, and so many others, were proven wrong.

Have I been mistaken before? Yes. How about 1998? I thought the tech- and related bubble was going to burst then, after the Asian banks (and one or more hedge funds) experienced problems. But no -- back then, big Al and others rushed to prop things up. Things didn't start to burst until 2000 (the NASDAQ fall).

I am an equal opportunity offender!

"the media delighted in bringing us Clinton's sex tape"

Actually, no, K. However, you know (admit it or not) what the media would do a Palin sex tape existed.
  • TheMagicalSkyFather
Same thing they did with the Rob Lowe one and the Pamela Anderson one and ...hmmm.
  • Leonidas
Prejean has suffered from 2 things, first the intolerance of the pro-gay marriage movement (I'm personally pro-gay marriage BTW) and the paparazzi-political culture that would go after any celebrity right-wing or left-wing.
  • DLS
    "intolerance"

That is both a more broad and less harsh encapsulation of what else we have seen, including hatred.

It goes beyond the more general trait of the activist Left in particular since the 1960s: reactionary.

    DLS -

All oppotunistic liberal bashing aside, did you notice that the story broke on the Hannity show on FOX, after a "celebrity" site, TMZ, leaked the possibility of a tape existing?

Not your run-of-the-mill lefty media M.O. to hand the story off to FOX's Hannity for distribution.
  • DLS
"did you notice that the story broke on the Hannity show on FOX"

No, I didn't. I pay almost no attention at all to Fox or to Hannity. (I don't watch television unless I've exhausted all reading material on hand, and I prefer to listen to Ed Schultz at the time Hannity is on the air here where I currently am, when I'm on the road.) It actually doesn't surprise me, either as a political news item (anything and everything controversial or newsworthy associated with current political affairs), or even as an example of politically-active "pre-emptive defensive maneuvering" by the notorious non-liberal black sheep of the liberal-to-radical media family (and notorious for tawdriness and tackiness, too).
  • JeffersonDavis
A little late to this one, Tidbits.

You are correct about the hypocracy of the "Christian" right.
But in all fairness, hyprocracy knows no bounds. Very few are consistent with what few principles they actually have these days. The sadest thing I've noticed is that the most principled people of note lately are extremist Muslims. They talk the talk and walk the walk. Sad comment, huh?

And it's sad that you have to put a disclaimer up to fend off the ultra-sensitive out there. I've never seen any malice in any of your posts, thus I assumed the best already. See? Your character is showing and precedes you.
