Or at least you should hold off if Georgia is typical of this election cycle.
ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) — College senior Kyla Berry was looking forward to voting in her first presidential election, even carrying her voter registration card in her wallet.
But about two weeks ago, Berry got disturbing news from local election officials.
“This office has received notification from the state of Georgia indicating that you are not a citizen of the United States and therefore, not eligible to vote,” a letter from the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections said.
But Berry is a U.S. citizen, born in Boston, Massachusetts. She has a passport and a birth certificate to prove it.
Berry is one of more than 50,000 registered Georgia voters who have been “flagged” because of a computer mismatch in their personal identification information. At least 4,500 of those people are having their citizenship questioned and the burden is on them to prove eligibility to vote.
They sent Ms. Berry a letter dated Oct. 2 saying she had one week to respond and challenge the finding. Unfortunately for her, the letter was postmarked Oct. 9. If you were going to so some systematic cleaning of the system to root out old, inactive registrations, might you not do it back in January or something, rather than one month before the election? More and more shenanigans being reported from all sides this year. I almost want to go to sleep and wake up to find that it’s Nov. 5th.
The republican GOP influence will stop at nothing. It is kicking in its death throes, lashing out in any direction it can to preserve its modis operandi, even if it has to expose that modis in desperation.
This type of activity won't bode well for the Congressional elections also going on. People will hear of stuff like this, instinctively know it's the losing party that is responsible and come out in numbers to punish them.
That's the thing about blind desperation, it is blind to its own self-inflicted wounds until it is too late. They are used to checkmating other people. The GOP finds it very uncomfortable to be on the receiving end of “checkmate”. As is obvious for all to see..
Yeah the GOP worte stealth virus software that infiltrated election computers in GA, selecting only people who the CIA had determined had a procivity to vote for Obama and then……………. instead simply of changing their votes to McCain the cleverly decided to have the election board computers print out letters quesoin ing citizenship.
What a brilliant plan.
Anyway, the good news for Kyla Berry is that as a non-citizen she will be able to run for President!
If you stop sipping koolaid long enough to read actual news you might notice that Obama has refused to produce any documents proving he is a citizen (please do not point me to BO saears site – that document does not prove that Obama is a naturally born citizen of the USA)
Obama plans to delay this in court until after the election and then contest the constitutionality of the requirement that the President be a natural citizen.
This issue has long elevated itself above a rightwing conspiracy theory. Philip Berg is solid mainstream attorney now defending our Constitution.

And you used World Net Daily as your source?? They throw out more conspiracies than Conspiracy Brother on the movie “Undercover Brother” (a very funny movie I may add). Jazz post is based in fact. And Silhouette comment also rings true when people think the fix is on.
World Net Daily has less credibility than the National Enquirer.
Not that sDee cares, but the citizenship thing has been debunked a long time ago by the non-partisan FactCheck.org group as well as many others. Here's a link to FactCheck.
Ah, 50000 in Georgia disenfranchised — hey, no problem. But it's a good thing they nipped that whole Mickey Mouse ACORN thing in the bud.
(I hope the bleeding sarcasm came through — at this point it's hard to tell sometimes)
That Certificate of live birth can be issued to anyone – it cannot be used as proof of natural born citizenship. That is the problem here.
Obama refused to provide proof that he was a natural born citizen in response to the case by Berg.
Why did he not show his documents? He could have made a fool out of Berg and stopped the appeal and the state lawsuits.
Factcheck conveniently updated their website with the late breaking news that Barrack used to hold dual citizenship. Funny he did not know that before.
You guys should really try and understand what is going on here – it is very serious. Law suits are being filed to the Supreme court and most states to validate that Obama is eligible.
This could end up in election turmoil and all Obama has to do to stop it is bring Congress proof of natural citizenship.
So sDee, if the actual physical birth certificate from the state of birth is not proof of being a natural born citizen, would you like to tell us what is? Social security cards are provided much later; same for passports….
By the way, are you referring to this bit on FactCheck in which it spells out that by UK-law all children of UK citizens are also citizens no matter where born, which in this case is Honolulu?
Look, I've got no problem with someone not liking Obama's policies or thinking he doesn't have the character to be Prez. Reasonable people can disagree. Why do we have to make up this stuff?
No one, not even McCain denies that he was born in Panama.
Can we stick with the post at hand and discuss Obama's alien citizenship (or whatever) on tv X-Files website?
My comment on the this post:
This is one of the reasons I hesitate to say (like so many people) that Obama will win next week.
Do a little research. A vaulted birth certificate is required.
John McCain did present his proof of citizenship to Congress before the RNC confirmed him. Obama did not.
Again ask yourself if Obama has proof of citizenship why does he not provide it to avoid these lawsuits. Why did he have his records in Hawaii sealed last week?
Because sDee. It's a gigantic, secret, liberal plot to take over the USA by installing a foreign citizen as president. Then, when the moment is right, he'll turn over the reigns of the USA to his true homeland, turning the United States into a colony again. Before you know it, it'll be the Boston Tea Party all over again.
Then again, maybe your conspiracy theory just sucks.
Wow, When Sock Puppets Attack. This should be an interesting final week, even here on the gently argumentative TMV.
oooh hey, i've got an idea. let's talk about how the law clarifying that being born in US controlled panama was passed AFTER mccain was born.
oooooooooooooo, scary!!
anyway, tinfoil nutbars aside, some form of voter tempering has always existed. it was just never close enough to matter before. the systematic disenfranchisement of certain “categories” of americans who statistically tend to vote mostly with one side or another is depraved, yet common.
the funny thing is… i hear “joe the plant” was initially thought to be unregistered to vote because they couldn't find him in the records because… his name was spelled wrong.
i wonder if he's been purged. that'd be funny.
Interestingly enough the only place I've been able to find the phrase “vaulted birth certificate” is on the right wing conspiracy web sites. They repeat it over and over again. It's the fruitcake meme of the week.
Yeah! Stay classy, Georgia! Seriously, either they have absolutely the worst sense of timing, or they're totally incompetent, or they're part of some “vast right-wing conspiracy.” Or any of the above. And BTW, Jazz, I second that last sentence. I wish tomorrow were Nov. 5, when…the next election cycle begins again. Oh, God. I'm screwed.
Also, T-Steel, aren't they the people who have the “gay filter” that changed the name of Olympic runner Tyson Gay to “Tyson Homosexual”? Hmm, maybe sDee could have found a better source, as in one that's actually believable.
