Satirist Andy Borowitz is reporting at the New Yorker:
Two days after asserting that President Barack Obama was a foreign-born Muslim, a guy who asked Donald Trump a provocative question at a New Hampshire rally is now the front-runner in the Republican race for President, according to a new poll.
Borowitz adds that Republicans have given “Muslim Question Guy” high marks for his remarks and “criticized Trump for not being more vocal in his agreement on those points.”
Noting the success which both Trump and “Muslim Question Guy” are having with their anti-Muslim rhetoric, presidential wannabe Ben Carson jumped on the anti-Muslim bandwagon and said that a Muslim should not be president of the United States.
Then, doubling down on his GOP seal of approval winning remarks, Carson told The Hill on Sunday that whoever takes the White House should be “sworn in on a stack of Bibles, not a Koran.”
In polls conducted a few hours after Carson’s remarks hit the news media, his poll numbers rose quickly and dramatically, threatening to eclipse Trump’s numbers and setting off a stampede among other Republican presidential wannabes to see who can come up with the most original and effective attacks on Muslims.
The spirit of American exceptionalism previously only expressed by Trump and proven so successful in his campaign, is now spreading like wildfire among the other candidates.
