GOP presidential wannabe Jeb Bush’s four different answers on whether or not to invade Iraq proves he isn’t ready for the campaign trail. For someone who has raised a lot of money, it’s shocking that his campaign couldn’t come up with a coherent response to the Iraq question.
Here are Jeb Bush’s four different answers on Iraq:
Monday: During an interview with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, he responded to her question on authorizing the invasion of Iraq: “I would’ve, and so would’ve Hillary Clinton, just to remind everybody. And so would almost everybody that was confronted with the intelligence they got.”
Tuesday: During an interview with Sean Hannity, he tried to clean it up a bit: “I interpreted the question wrong, I guess. I was talking about, given what people knew then, would you have done it, rather than knowing what we know now. And knowing what we know now, you know, clearly there were mistakes as it related to faulty intelligence in the lead-up to the war and the lack of focus on security. My brother has admitted this, and we have to learn from that.”
Wednesday: At a town hall event in Nevada, Jeb Bush said, “If we’re going to get into hypotheticals, I think it does a disservice for a lot of people that sacrificed a lot.” He continued, saying, “Going back in time and talking about hypotheticals—what would have happened, what could have happened—I think, does a disservice for them. What we ought to be focusing on is what are the lessons learned.”
Thursday: During an event in Tempe, AZ, Jeb Bush finally thinks he got it right: “Here’s the deal: If we’re all supposed to answer hypothetical questions—knowing what we know now, what would you have done—I would have not engaged.””I would not have gone into Iraq.”
Sorry, but if this is the Jeb Bush who is going to debate Hillary Clinton ahead of the presidential elections, I would have to give her the edge. The inability to give coherent responses to tough questions seems to be a family trait. Remember all the zingers from George H. W. Bush and later George W. Bush? In reality, Jeb Bush isn’t the person I would want to take a 3 a.m. phone call in the White House. #IJS
