Most recent update: Forces in Pakistan say all the Taliban who entered the school and murdered now estimated over 130 souls, are all dead.
UPDATE: It is said that The Pakistani soldiers have killed five of the Taliban who have undertaken this slaughter of the innocents. There is speculation because Taliban have destroyed thousands of schools in their path, that their insanity was also responsible for attempting to murder now 17 year old Malala Yousafzai who recovered from her devastating gunshot wound to her head and last week shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Indian activist Kailash Satyarthi… that the Taliban does not have a sanity shared by most on earth…. last year entering a church, also in Peshawar via two suicide bombers, and killing 130 persons at worship.
Peshawar Pakistan… just within the last hours, Taliban admits they entered a school in firefight gear, are said to be holding hostage hundreds more children in the school, killed over 126 persons at first report, may be more, most we hear are believed to be school children at age 10, and young teens between 12 and 16 years old who have been specifically targeted and murdered.
Many more children mortally wounded and badly injured, many of whom have been carried to hospitals that are running out of blood for transfusions for devastating injuries. Read from the BBC here.
One of the Taliban blew himself up. Another was killed by Pakistani army. Other Taliban are still in school holding the young hostages. The Taliban said they sent in 6 suicide bombers to the school dressed as though they were Pakistani soldiers whom the children trust. This deceit is said to have caught all 700 children in the school completely off guard.
The stones arent crying out. Across the world the stone are screaming. Containment! Justice!! they are screaming. Justice, a most endangered species in our world now unless it has people who act as its voice and its actions.
Long ago, my nuns and I would sit in a circle each morning and just ask one question: What can we do? Silence. Letting ourselves be filled. Then going out, going out, to do what each had been filled to do.
What we can do is pray immediately. Pray hard that no more harm come, that those injured slip into numbness to bear the pain til help can come, that the dying be comforted in whatever ways can be, that the so frightened hold on and be becalmed as much as possible, that those who can safely escape, escape, that the children and adults hold each other. That angels of the One and all that is holy be present in whatever ways.
If mountains are made of grains of sand. We each are a grain. Together, we can become a moving mountain toward good.
What can we do?
What will add to effectively containing and holding accountable
those who act in complete evil toward innocents?
Let us do it.
This day.
And onward.
Remember Australia
Remember Peshawar
remember what has become the long list of evil acts against innocents…
Let us do what we can.
You may give blood where you live in order to keep stores up in your part of the world, as some are saying different nations may be shipping blood to Peshawar. You could as I will, contact the local Pakistani community here and find out what I can do to join in helping. You could do that too in your community or reach out to the online Pakistani communities. You can call to leave condolences if you have Pakistani friends. Writing to give reassurance that you send all good will. And in a resonant way, just reaching out to help anyone who needs help who is within your reach…. all these help calm helplessness, lessen despair and build strength toward the good.
Think on it
What can we do?
Let us do it.
I gently say, Opinion toward decency is good
Action is also important.
Often critical.
Like right now.
