President Obama spoke briefly ahead of his trip to the UN to address the air strikes the U.S. and its partners staged in Syria to disable ISIS (Islamic State) militants. He said he was pleased with the bipartisan support from the U.S. Congress.
President Obama singled out members of the coalition who took part in the air strikes last night — Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates — saying the US is “proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder” with them against ISIS.
Obama said “This is not America’s fight alone.” He was very clear that we must cut off ISIS’ funding, including selling oil on the black market. He also said the flow of foreign fighters need to be stopped because they can come back to their native countries and launch attacks.

The US armed forces went after al Qaeda affiliate, Khorasan, operating inside Syria, because there was a credible threat against the homeland.
Syria said it supports “any international effort” in the fight against jihadists, following the US-Arab coalition air strikes. This comes as a Pentagon official said there are indications that the air strikes against ISIS and Khorasan targets were “very successful.”
