There has been a good deal of shock and shame in the wake of Katrina, but all this politicization and partisanship must stop.
Is this not one of those times when we should all come together for the sake of a common cause? There may be plenty of blame to go around, and there will be plenty of time to assign that blame, but, for now, shouldn’t our energies be directed at supporting the relief efforts and helping those who are suffering? What good does it do to direct our outrage at President Bush, or FEMA, or Republican program-cutters in Congress, or the local leaders in New Orleans and along the Gulf Coast?
None whatsoever. Not now.
We don’t need an enemy. We don’t need someone or something to be against. We need to put aside our differences and do the right thing, which is to help those in need. Period.
