During this campaign I’ve been on the McCain/RNC email list and an Obama email list. From the standpoint of delivering materials bolstering a message, the RNC was the most-effective in sending a steady stream of emails with links to many stories critical of Obama. Most email from the Obama side to this site was the official Obama campaign email which some info on an issue or development and a donation request (I don’t do donations to either party).
This email is of particular interest: Obama’s thank you to his supporters on his list sent out right before his victory speech last night:
Friend —
I’m about to head to Grant Park to talk to everyone gathered there, but I wanted to write to you first.
We just made history.
And I don’t want you to forget how we did it.
You made history every single day during this campaign — every day you knocked on doors, made a donation, or talked to your family, friends, and neighbors about why you believe it’s time for change.
I want to thank all of you who gave your time, talent, and passion to this campaign.
We have a lot of work to do to get our country back on track, and I’ll be in touch soon about what comes next.
But I want to be very clear about one thing…
All of this happened because of you.
Thank you,
Barack
Two things. Smart people know when to say thank you to those that help them. And it’s clear Obama has a network that he and the Democrats intend to keep in place and, most likely, expand.
