The blogosphere is all atwitter today with the latest joyful celebration of schadenfreude at the spectacle of a “family values” Republican caught with his pants down in a sex scandal. What would normally be protected as private sexual and moral issues is, when it involves a conservative Republican, considered fair game for public ridicule and derision.
Ok, fair enough. Then let’s apply that principle to both sides and let’s talk a little about progressive radicals like Noam Chomsky who make millions of dollars and protect it against exactly the same redistributionist policies they demand be applied mercilessly against “the rich” (meaning everyone else but them). Without even going into Chomsky’s abominable record of genocide denial and dishonest historical scholarship (I’m told on good authority that Chomsky is excellent when he sticks to his actual field of expertise, linguistics), how is it that someone like this holds a position of tacit leadership in a political movement when his lifestyle is blatantly in contradiction to what he demands from everyone else?
“Live as I say, not as I do”? We don’t buy it from “family values” righties, so why should we give a pass to “social justice” lefties like Chomsky?
